Ezequiel Taveras: BORDERS
Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Ezequiel Taveras is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, ceramics, painting, and printmaking. He studied at the National School of Fine Arts in Santo Domingo, where he focused on sculpture, and was a disciple of Colombian artist Omar Rayo.
Over a career spanning several decades, Taveras has exhibited extensively in Latin America, the United States, Europe, and Asia. In 2019, he represented the Dominican Republic at the Venice Biennale.
In addition to his artistic practice, Taveras has worked as an educator and curator, teaching at Altos de Chavón School of Design and universities in the Dominican Republic. He is also the curator of CONTINUUM at Chín Art Project.
His exhibition, BORDERS, offers visitors an opportunity to encounter his work in Washington Heights.
Franklin Graulau: ZIGZAG

Graulau studied fine arts and illustration at Altos de Chavón School of Design in the Dominican Republic in the 1980s. His artistic practice incorporates personal experiences and an interest in exploring materials and creative processes.

With ZIGZAG, Graulau returns to Chín Gallery to present a new exhibition of his work.
Bringing contemporary art into the community
Chín Art Project is a collaboration between the Juan Pablo Duarte Foundation and Un Chín Media, founded by Ramón Veras. Located within the JPD Community Space at the George Washington Bridge Bus Terminal, the gallery provides a setting for artists to share their work with the Washington Heights community.
Through CONTINUUM, Chín creates opportunities to experience contemporary art from Latin America and its diaspora outside traditional museum and gallery settings.
The presentation of BORDERS and ZIGZAG brings together two artists with connections to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico, reflecting the cultural ties between Caribbean communities and Washington Heights.
